There are just 11 students in my masters of biotechnology management at uc irvine.
i am afraid but the class strength is too less.
my fear is that not many people are taking this course.
should i join it? I am paranoid as it takes 60-70 lac to fund my masters and what if i am not left with any job
Its a two year old course too.so a very new course…
If it’s a new program, they will be adding students every year. And many graduate programs are small compared to undergraduate. No one can tell you if you will get a job or not after graduation (do you even have the right kind of visa to work in the US?) Have you spoken to the department head or to the career office to see what kind of support UC Irvine/the program offer to its graduates?
Yes i have.u can work on the H1B visa if you are an international student in the US.
I want a frank amd honest opinion. The program director and career services people would be biased and might give a false image
Not enough people here will know. The program itself may have some factual data on outcomes for students. But for international students you have to find a company that will sponsor an H1B and there are caps on the amount of visas available. That’s all I know about it.
If it’s a new program, how can you measure its quality? It hasn’t had time to make an impact on the science and/or business community. But you can certainly ask the department where the program’s graduates got jobs after they finished their degrees and what kind of resources it (or the career office) offers grads.
And do look into the realities of work on H1B visa. There are plenty of Americans qualified for jobs in biotech (lots of biology/chemistry majors who decided against going to medical school.)
