Wow, that was pretty ironic! Haha. But good for you! :)

I’m using Barrons CR workbook right now.

After the Dec. test (when I’ll be finish with the SAT), I’m having a bonfire with friends to burn these prep books! It’ll be a bittersweet moment lol…except for the fact that I gotta start studying for the SAT II right after for the Jan. date. :D

Question: Practice the BB tests as a whole or section by section?

Just finished the 2nd practice test in the BB. Got my first 2000!

670 CR
640 Math
690 (gave myself a 10 essay) Writing

Don’t know how the heck I did so well (I was aiming for a 650 in Reading) in CR! I felt like this practice test had easy passages. I sort of clicked and understood the passages more during this test. Sort of weird… I have never felt this way/did this well on CR before. Hope this positive trend continues.
Writing was 690 as usual. Missed a 5 and omitted 1. Need to brush up on some grammar. Aiming for at least 700 on the real thing.
Math is disappointing. It’s supposed to be the easiest section and I don’t know how it was my worse this time around. Missed 9 and omitted 2.

Going to finish some homework then review the answers to the test. This is the first time I got 2000, and 2000 is my goal on the real thing. Want to average at least 2100 on the practice tests so I feel confident for a 2000 on the Dec. test.

I really want to be done with the SAT with one sitting. I know I, and a lot of people here, have been stressed these past couple of weeks because of the SAT December…
Good luck to everyone and yeah, let’s beat this and reach our goals together this December.

@zfrosting,
Great job! Keep the score rising! :)

@Reckie,
Ha, I’ll “try” not to!

@Billy,
Yeah, that’s what I’m mainly doing right now. Well, I guess you could say that…just taking a section at a time, but having a pretty good interval between all of them.

@jomi77,
Nah, I’m in SC.

Makeup testing still has yet to be announced for SC… :(

How do you feel about omitting a question?

I know they say if you can cancel out at least one to three answer choices that you should just guess from there, but I noticed myself cancelling out an answer that I just don’t think that could be correct, without any proof of it being right or wrong at all… It always happens when I get really caught up on one problem. In a case like that, would it be better to just omit or keep on guessing?

If you guess 5 times its probable you will get 1 right and 4 wrong. -.25x4=-1+1=0. I think if you have read the question, guess. No matter what. Go big or go home.

I’m on day 4 of my study schedule; still going strong. Really proud of myself. 4 days in and I’ve accomplished more studying than I have in my life.(shows why I have an 86 average). Anyway, I’m learning quite a bit, and with the amount of knowledge I’ve picked up in four days, I can’t begin to fathom how much I’ll accumulate by December. I wish I could post a picture of it up, but no internet still. I guess we’ll find out how much getting internet back(if I ever do) will negatively impact me.

A few kids were going crazy about BO2 today in school; I didn’t even know it came out.(insert cha-ching sound here)

I might take the makeup SAT for practice, but I think a couple extra weeks will give me a lot of time to improve.

@billy, well if you can’t narrow down any choices, it’s even. If you can take it down to 4 choices or less its likely you’re increasing your score. Statistically speaking anyway. When in doubt, choose D. ;)

They just announced the makeup test for Saturday, and I’m definitely going to take it! Woot!

My prep of CR and W has really increased my scores, and it wasn’t even an hour in each section too, yet I spent around a week with Math and it hasn’t done anything except increase by about 20 points…

One new trick I learned… On any math(diagram) question that IS drawn to scale, you can use your pencil as a “ruler” to figure out the question.

Finished Pwn the SAT: it was great: but now the Princeton Review book has been less than helpful.

I will also take the December 1st SAT, my current score is a 1250… I’m aiming for a 2000+, but will be satisfied with a 1850+ , I have a Barron’s. flash cards , an official SAT book, and sylvan classes (which didn’t help much, and now a waste of 1500 dollars)

@zdesertion, good luck! That would be an amazing jump.

I think it’s pretty obvious that classes are for extrinsically motivated individuals. If you’re an intrinsic person; and you use the next few weeks wisely, you can definitely hit an 1850+ or even 2000! At 1250 though, you’re going to need more than just some tricks for a 750 point jump. Hard work, dedication, and LOTS of review. Go over the basics if you don’t have them down.

@zdesertion,
Stay motivated, stay determined, and keep on studying! Make sure you go over all of the basics in each section and understand them.
