Let's beat the December SAT. Together.

any seniors taking the december 2012 sat?

@Snoop1,
I am! Right now, I’m pretty bummed… took the Nov. makeup today and scores won’t be back until Dec. 4th…I was hoping they would come back sooner so I could use them to see what I needed to improve and prep on for the Dec. 1st test.

Sorry Marie! I’ll be back and let you guys know my score. Keep in touch.

Im a senior taking the december 1st SAT, currently studying. Hoping for a 650 CR, 550+ math, 550+ Writing.

Just finished a college board practice test and recieved a 1370 (480 CR 460 math 430 writing)

What were the answer to the circle question where the little circle was how many times smaller than the bigger one?

And what was the answer to the question that had a picture of a line and it asked how many times it hit the X axis?

Also, what was the answer to the picture one that had a spiral and asked for the answer in pie?

AND was one of the answers 30%? The choices were like 30%-40%-50%-60% and 250%?

I’m a senior taking the SAT on December 1st.

I took a practice test about three weeks ago and got a 1790 (600 Math, 600 Writing, 590 CR).

Junior. Will be my second time taking it.

Hoping for 2300 (750 CR, 750M, 800 WR). Not gonna happen though. lololololol.

Junior. Taking December SAT for the second time.

Going for 2200… got a 2100 first time (Oct).

I have been consistently getting over 2200 on every practice test since my first SAT… Think I can pull it off on the actual test?

Well, the test is next Saturday! This will be my third time taking it (and also my last), second time with prep though.

@gardenGnostic,
Is this your first time taking it? And since you’re a senior, will this be your last time too?

@Niceboat,
That would be my dream score lol! But remember that you do have your senior year for it too! …I’m already in my senior year and I didn’t take the first test until at the end of my junior year (May). Nahhh, you could pull it off ;)

@WhatAGoodLife,
2100 as a first time is great! 2200, even better! I’m not sure if you can pull a 2200 on the actual test because I don’t know what you’ve been ranging, but most people say give yourself a range of 50 points up to 100-something (I don’t remember) points of a difference on the practice tests and the actual test. Some score higher, some score a little lower. I’m sure you can do it! :)

Ahh. I’m so ambivalent (haha, SAT word) about this SAT. Been barely scoring 2000’s on my practice tests. Knocked out 2 of them in 2 days and reviewing the second one’s answers now. This test was pretty confusing, but the math so way easier than usual. And the writing was harder than I expected. And CR was super hard. Missed a wopping 14. And the last practice test I took I only missed 10. With that said, I’m sort of skeptical about how this will translate to the actual SAT next Saturday.

1st time taking it, so I don’t know what to expect. I’ve been practicing my essays by practicing my creativity; coming up with BS examples and giving myself 24 minutes to write. Anyone know if the essay sheets in the blue book are of exact length as the one’s that are gonna be given out on the actual SAT’s?

I want to feel confident, but at the same time, I’m not. A lot of my friends are getting 2100+'s like it’s nothing. >_< My goal is at least 2k. And I’m barely reaching it on the practice tests. Maybe if I stay confident I’ll actually do well and be lucky next Saturday. Who knows what can happen…

We can do this. A lot of us have been working hard and deserve our desired score.

The length of the essay sheets in the BB is pretty accurate to the size of the ones on the actual test. The BB ones are a little smaller, but not that much.

We have the same goal! :slight_smile: Woot! Yes, be optimistic and plus, there is one more week to go!

Don’t be skeptical, each test runs in a variety of difficulty. The “easier” the test, the harsher the curve and vice versa. The actual test I took last Saturday seemed so much easier (except the math portions) than the test I took back in May.

Just keep studying, practicing, and reviewing! :slight_smile: Get determined! It’s amazing what determination can do…

I’m taking the December SAT. I’m trying to get at least a 1500, I got a 1210 the last time, the math portion messed me up. I am studying everyday but I feel like I can’t get high enough to get in to my top college. Does anyone have any tips to help me with the math part? (I got a 390)

@prttyrckstr101,

http://www.erikthered.com/tutor/facts-and-formulas-0.pdf</a> —Keep those ideas in mind. That is basically the basics and meanings of the math words in problems and math formulas.

[Brian Redman - YouTube](<a href=“RadicalPrep - YouTube”>RadicalPrep - YouTube) — One poster mentioned that these videos helped him (or her) improve his (or her) math score pretty dramatically.

Well, the “Keller Method” or something and this is all I could find as to what the poster was talking about. It’s worth a good glance!

The information in these is pretty much the basics of the SAT math.

@Marie96

Thank you so much! :slight_smile: These will help me a lot!

It’s almost here. :O

What have you guys been doing for your last few days of prep? I think I’m going to relax on Friday and go to bed early. Really hoping that I’ll remain calm and get at least a 2000. Don’t know if I can do it, though. :frowning: Just have to remain confident and hope for the best. I would just hate to get to the test and come across a series of hard questions that would haunt me for the rest of the duration…

Also, what are your policies on guessing? I’d love to hear some opinions.
For me, I think I’m just going to guess if I have any bit of insight on the question. I feel like getting that +1 raw point is more beneficial and cancels out wrong answers when it comes to scoring. And since I’m aiming for a 2000 I need all the points I can get. Or is this the wrong approach?

I’ve been going over bunches and bunches of math. Also took some good notes too!

Don’t doubt yourself! “Believing that you can makes you win half of the race.” Also, if you come across a trippy problem, don’t let it ruin the rest of the test for you, because there will be some tough ones…there always is.

Guessing…if I can eliminate one answer choice and have an idea of a range as to what the answer is out of all of the leftover choices, then I’ll guess. You just have to see how well you do with guessing and your approach to it in order to see if it will be beneficial towards your score. If it comes down to two choices, guess away! Definitely.

We have the same goal :)

Sophomore!

Always make one or two stupid mistakes on the math section. :frowning:
Surprisingly, I pretty much always get 800 on writing, although I suppose that’s because it’s harder to make a stupid mistake on writing.

Critical reading hovers between 680 and 750…gotta make that more consistent!

Hopefully I’ll get a 2200+, but a 2300 (or higher!) would be nice. :)

Hey guys!

Well, I’ve been playing BO2 since I decided not to take the December test, but I didn’t forget about you! I’ll be back here on the 4th when November re-take scores come back and I’ll be sure to let you guys know if I reached my goal. I submitted my early action app for Binghamton today, and I’m just praying they skip the section with my GPA… My essay is short but sweet, and my extracurricular activities don’t look as bad as I thought.

In the meantime I’d like to wish you all good luck on the December test! And thanks again to anyone who helped me on my journey. Feel free to message me!(hey Marie!)

I’m hoping for 800 CR/720 M/780 W. I’m a pretty horrible test taker and I’ve done minimal preparation, so I probably shouldn’t expect a 200-point increase from two months ago. Oh well, good luck to everyone!
