letter of recommendation.....

i am the debate capatain of my school's team and am looking to apply to georgetown early, my first choice, and commit to the debate team there. I have been in contact with the gtown debate coach who I am going to meet over the summer when i visit the school and the coach said that he could write a letter of recommendation for me and give it to the admissions people ya know like to let them know that i am interested in joining thier debate team and such...do you think that this could help me get into the university..i knkow it woun't get me in single handedly but i have a 3.82 gpa and 31 act 1350 sat scores so i'm not totally out of teh range ne way
...?

It can't hurt you. Go for it.

but wouldn't it help considerably becuase the coach would want me on the team and then the college would obviously want to better its team...ya know?

Not considerably. Many high school students ask Harvard professors for recommendations; they get it (some are written pretty well... obviously... Harvard professors...) and then guess what? Some are deferred or rejected.
