Like the title says, I’ve managed to make it to October of my senior year without having a clue how the letters of recommendation work.
How should I write my teacher requests?
And after I’ve done that…how does it work??

Every High School has a different procedure for letters of recommendation. Some do it through the common app, some through naviance and some do the whole thing on paper. So you need to contact your guidance department to find out their procedure.
Also you need to look at the web sites for the colleges you are applying to. Every college requests a different amount of recommendations (usually one or two) and some specify what types of teachers they want recommendations from, most often it will say from a core subject. Or if you are interested in science it might say from a science teacher. Usually the guidance counselor does one rec and you ask one or two teachers for additional recs.
