A Yale Hispanic Alumni Chairman and my chess coach both volunteered to write me letters of recommendation, but CMU has said (as of April 4th) that
“At this time, we kindly request that you do not submit any written statement or other supplemental information to be added to your application file. You should expect to hear from us in late April or early May with additional information about the waitlist.”
Does that just mean I should not “request” people for recommendations? I feel like if they want to do it of their volition, it may be helpful. What do you think?
I was waitlisted too and I received the same response when trying to send in updates on things that I have done since applying. I have no clue what this is about, but it seems weird that they wouldn’t take our updates…
They said after May 1st they would send out an email to those who put requested to be on priority waitlist. I would wait until that email and send what they ask for. If they clearly say they do not want any extra recs or resumes then it doesn’t seem like the best idea to still send it. I am sure that email will have some sort of form where you can explain your thoughts and whatever
