Letters of Recommendation

I know letters of recommendation aren't required but will sending 2-3 help me at all? Or should I just not bother sending any at all? Will it hurt me if I send them in? My counselor says that sending them in when colleges don't request them will lower my chances of getting in because it shows I can't follow directions.

It might help you if you’re borderline, but Tech is a very numbers focused school. If your GPA and SAT/ACT are up there then you shouldn’t need them. It couldn’t hurt though.

The Tech admissions checklist says “Letters of recommendation are not requested; however, if an applicant chooses to send one, it must accompany the high school transcript.”

If I recall correctly, though, we attended a Tech open house where the admissions officials said not to bother sending any recommendations.
