Letters of Recommendations Question

I was wondering if anyone can tell me whom I am allowed to get a letter of recommendation from. Also, would the extra ones help? How many are required for UofM Ann Arbor? I am thinking about getting letters of recommendation from my APES teacher/ NHS Advisor, counselor, an orthopedic surgeon who is giving me some opportunities to watch a surgery and what not, and my manager at a clinc I volunteer at. All these people now me pretty well. Would this be considered too much?

Many colleges ask for a teacher (or two) and your HS GC. But this varies, so you need to read the college website for each school.

I generally recommend at most one extra beyond the required LORs. But check the college websites, some say not to send any extras.

Again, check the college website, UMichigan states very clearly how many they require.

Yes, way too much. Take a few minutes and consider how many applications and LORs adcoms must read each year, my guess is that they appreciate candidates who follow the guidelines they’ve set out.
