According to the L&S website, the college only awards B.A. degrees. I am interested in pursuing math and/or physics at L&S, and if all requirements are met, I'll receive my B.A. in one or the other. But is a B.A. in any of these less "rigorous" than a B.Sc? In other words, will I be looked unfavorably upon by prospective employers and others with a B.A. as opposed to a B.Sc? Thanks.

Hmm… are you an international student?

No, why?10char

I don’t think it matters in the US, but it might matter elsewhere.

Why wouldn’t it matter? I thought they were totally different degrees.

A Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science are both bachelor’s degrees; in the end it matters more about the major and school than whether it is “of Arts” or “of Science”.

Many schools give “of arts” degrees for historical reasons (think arts = any field of study that’s not law, medicine or theology), but that doesn’t make them any less rigorous than an “of science” degree from another college.

So I guess its ridiculous to consider not going to Berkeley because of the absence of B.Sc’s in L&S?
