I don’t think a lot of concerns above are always true about school size or even liberal v conservative. My daughter was at a small, pretty conservative school (STEM, not LAC), in a red state. She had a number of gay friends who all seemed to find people to date. The dating pool may have been small, but at least it was balanced and most people in the pool had similar interests in math and science. It was more likely that a hetero male would be girlfriend-less than a gay student as there just weren’t enough hetero females in the pool.
