Liberal Arts College vs Universities

It has been argued that the first four years of College should be used to prepare students for a lifetime of learning instead of a particular career track. "If you use your undergraduate years to prepare for a profession, you risk preparing for what you think is your lifelong career and miss out on learning how to think." Liberal Arts Colleges are to provide students with general knowledge. However, haven't you learnt enough of general knowledge at High School and shouldn't it be time a student focus on what interests him or her?

How is the curriculum in a Liberal Arts College different from Universities?

What are your views on this?

If you major in business for example, at most schools, you are taking half of your classes in your school’s college of arts and sciences satisfying core or distribution requirements so you are still getting a liberal arts education and learning how to think so I never understand why people always say that… Job prospects are also stronger right out of undergrad with a major that relates to a career. I know people say they will go straight to grad school but that costs money, a lot, so wouldn’t you want to be working in between or during to pay off your debt/loans?
