Liberal Arts Colleges in between HAVERFORD and GETTYSBURG?

Liberal Arts Colleges in between Haverford and Gettysburg.
"in between", considering the rank, selectivity, number of undergraduates, diversity and education quality and difficulty of the courses (I guess)

I can easily look at the rankings posted on US News, but I wanted some more vibrant reviews of the colleges you guys are accepted/applying to...

Must-Haves
Financial Aid and Scholarships for international students
Education Major or Minor
Chemistry Major or Minor

Thank you!!

What do you mean between? Academically? Geographically? Selectively? There are many ways to measure how good a certain college is. Three that come to mind still in the PA area are Lafayette, Lehigh, and Bucknell

@shawnspencer‌ I’ve edited the post… Hope it’s a bit clearer? :)

TIME LAPSED AND WON’T LET ME EDIT THE POST, SO HERE IS THE COMPREHENSIVE LIST

@LAMuniv‌ Here ya go!

I am not sure about the financial aid to international students but I would suggest Dickinson, John Hopkins, Bucknell, Franklin & Marshall, Ursinus, and Muhlenberg.

@beenthereanddone‌ Hey!! Thanks a lot for the suggestions :)

I don’t consider JHU a LAC, nor do they, as it is a National University. I would put Dickinson on par with Gettysburg, Ursinus and Muhlenberg, below it.

Trinity, Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh, Hamilton, Colby, Bates, Claremont Mckenna, Holy Cross, Colorado College, Carlton, Macalester, Reed, Davidson, Wash &Lee, are some examples as well as F&M and Bucknell.

How much can you pay?

I’d like to highly recommend University of Richmond (Chemistry major and Education minor).
Look at the FA for internationals:
<a href=“Financial Aid - University of Richmond”>Financial Aid - University of Richmond;
Are you female? If so, consider Mount Holyoke, very friendly and generous to internationals.

@cptofthehouse‌ Thank you thank you thank you for helping me out :slight_smile: The liberal arts colleges you have suggested are known for their outstanding quality of education and other exciting factors (Wish I could get into just ONE of them…) !! Do you know specifically about any of these colleges based on your personal experiences or reviews (basically, anything besides website reviews and stats… )? THanks again!

@International95‌ Hi there! My parents are missionaries, and the max we can pay is 20k-25k. However, colleges that offer full ride aren’t necessary because I am currently searching many scholarships from different organizations (international and Korean)… Also, I heard that some organizations offer scholarship if I get into a certain university they require, so I’m expecting on that too…

Full ride would be more than my dream though, Can you perhaps think of any colleges that I have a good chance of getting a full ride scholarship in? (Based on the stats above)

THAAAAAANKs!!

@Bamboolong‌ Hi!! Richmond actually has consistently been my dream school, a place I think I will be 100% academically satisfied. However, I am cognizant of the sororities and fraternities in the school and so many negative reviews about lack of diversity… <a href=“The University of Richmond (StudentsReview) - Comments, Reviews and Advice, Student Life at The University of Richmond”>The University of Richmond (StudentsReview) - Comments, Reviews and Advice, Student Life at The University of Richmond;
Do you perhaps know anything about the college life in Richmond?

Thanks for your suggestions though, I will check out Mount Holyoke! :D

I have to wonder whether a person who would be happy at Richmond would be happy at Mount Holyoke. That said, look into Vassar.

@International95‌ Doing as you suggested! Thanks! Do you know what Vassar is famous for? Any particular reasons as to why you suggested that one? :D

A friend attends Vassar and is majoring in educational studies. She raves about the program. Vassar is very well known in the northeast (as much as Amherst, really). Vassar is famous for its history as a women’s school, its beautiful campus (and, particularly, library), and for its outstanding programs in the arts and humanities. It is also generous to international students.

@International95‌ Wow wow wow…!! Thanks a lot for that precious info!! May I ask if your friend is also an international student? If so, do you recall if she receive any type of scholarships and/or financial aid? :)

$ for international students

OP, another vote here for Dickinson.

Hoolala, please check the common data of Richmond:
<a href=“Common Data Set - Institutional Effectiveness - University of Richmond”>http://ifx.richmond.edu/research/common-data.html</a>
Look at B. Enrollment:
http://ifx.richmond.edu/pdfs/TEMP_CDS_section_B.pdf</a>
Richmond is doing well in increasing its diversity. In 2013, it has near 10% internationals in the freshman class. Whites make about 56% of the freshmen. I cannot talk about the college life there for I haven’t visited the campus. From what I have researched, I think it is a very good college that will offer quality education and great FA. I would not worry about the social life there. One can always find like-minded friends outside the Greek life, and the majority of the students are NOT involved in Greek life (73% female and 87% male students are not in Greek life see data here: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/university-of-richmond-3744</a>).
The link you provided on the negative comment on Richmond does not work so I cannot respond to it.

Vassar is a great school too but it has a lower admission rate than all the other women’s colleges except Barnard. International 95 pointed out that “Vassar is famous for its history as a women’s school, its beautiful campus (and, particularly, library), and for its outstanding programs in the arts and humanities.” I know that Mount Holyoke is famous for its sciences. I would also like to recommend Bryn Mawar. Both Mount Holyoke and Bryn Mawr have beautiful campuses, good FA for internationals, and above all, excellent programs with the resources of nearby colleges in the consortium.

Check the common data set of each school of your interest for info on diversity, admission, FA, etc. Ask questions in each school’s forum at CC and the students or alums or parents of the school will answer your questions by their experiences.
