Good afternoon everyone. I'm a high school senior and I've sent in all my applications (yay!). Not exactly looking for more schools, just wanted advice with my options.

OK, I'm a CA resident and my favorite schools are in the UC system. I applied to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UCD. I'm expecting to get accepted to UCSD, UCSB, and UCD and rejected to UCLA and UCB.

Here's my question: Should I A) go to a school like UCSB next year or B) go a community college for 2yrs then transfer to a school like UCLA. The ONLY reason I'm not getting into UCLA/UCB now is because I don't have the SAT numbers (GPA, EC's, etc. are all very solid.) I'd like it at UCSB, but all I have to do is save a ton of money and wait 2 years to go to UCLA. Though decision...what are your opinions?

Depends...how badly do you want to go to UCLA/UCB? Would it be worth going to a community college for two years? Have you thought about what you'd do and how'd you react if you went to a community college for two years, attempted to transfer to UCLA and didn't get in?

I'm not trying to be a downer...just wanted to give you more to think about.

For sure, I would just like the opportunity to talk about it. Let's see...how badly do I want to go to UCLA/UCB? Really, really badly (with UCLA the clear no. 1). How I'd react if I got deferred after to 2 years at a community college? I'd be disappointed, but like I said before, I'd like it at UCSB as well. UCSB just doesn't have the name that UCLA carries. Plus, UC's only look at GPA and essays for CCC (CA community college) transfers, no SAT. If there was no SAT for freshmen, I'd feel good about getting into UCLA now. I'd be confident and do my absolute best for 2 years at a CCC knowing it would get me into UCLA. I'd also apply to USC as a transfer, which has I higher transfer rate.
