<p>It’s annoying. Highly.</p>
<p>Saying “like” is just like saying “um,” “uh,” “well,” “y’know,” or nothing at all. Not everyone rehearses their conversation.</p>
<p>Besides, it’s not a big deal if you don’t pay attention to it. Focus on the actual content of what they’re saying instead of the pauses it takes them to articulate it.</p>
<p>Add “sooooooooooo…yeah” to the list.</p>
<p>This is one of my biggest pet peeves.</p>
<p>Once you’ve noticed someone saying it, it’s hard to ignore it</p>
<p>A lot of stutterers use interjections such as “like” to keep their speech flowing and not get caught in a rut. Once you’re in there you usually have to change god damn everything or stop talking for a while.</p>

<p>^I stuttered a lot myself (and still do frequently) and that’s true. Not me, personally, but other stutterers usually use ‘like’ or ‘um’ as a filler to occupy an empty gap or, as wanton said, to keep the flow of words going.</p>
