I’m just wondering what people think about not taking either linear algebra or Multivariable calculus in high school (and taking BC Calculus as a senior). I know lots of people take both of these and even differential equations in high school so was wondering if this would impact admissions or look bad for colleges.
Are you a math guy? If your school offers these classes and you’re planning on presenting yourself as a hard science student, then it may hurt you if you choose not to take them. If you’re more interested in subjects like biology, humanities, or the arts, then it should be okay. Make sure you’re strong in some other field, though. If you’re not taking the most rigorous math classes then you should be excelling in another subject.
If your middle school math placement has you completing calculus BC as a senior, that should be fine. Very few colleges in the US even require taking calculus while in high school, and none require post-calculus math in high school.
