Which version of Java is most commonly used for AP Computer Sciences?

When I go to Oracle for Java 7 I find this page Java SE Downloads

And this:

"What Java Do I Need?" You must have a copy of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) on your system to run Java applications and applets. To develop Java applications and applets, you need the JDK (Java Development Kit), which includes the JRE.

Is that it--JDK? There are several other downloads on the page.

Over 200 views, and nobody can tell me where to download the appropriate Java for AP Computer Sciences?

Please. Thanks.

For writing Java programs, you want the JDK, which has tools to allow you to compile your source code into programs that can be run. Any version of Java will work, so you can just get the latest version, which would be Java 7 JDK. The AP exam is designed for Java 2 5.0

This is also mentioned in any Java textbook, assuming you have one. Otherwise, here is one: [Javanotes 6.0 – Title Page](Javanotes 9, JavaFX Edition -- Title Page)

If you’re going to be programming in Java 7, make sure that you don’t do any exclusively-Java 7 things on the AP exam.
