<p>i'd use linux, but my family would complain because dual-boot/partitions is too confusing for them. not to mention the lack of multimedia creation software (besides GIMP)</p>

<p>There's actually a lot if you investigate a bit. I'm not into this stuff, but check out <a href="http://www.ubuntuforums.org%5B/url%5D"&gt;www.ubuntuforums.org&lt;/a> - there's sections on software and you'll find what you need.</p>
