"List all colleges/universities at which you have taken courses for credit"

Hi,

I don't understand this part of the Common App. I'm an international homeschooled student who took some Open University (like a part-time college, I think) courses a while back, but I don't think they count for credit at US universities. Should I list them in this section or not?

Also, should I list them in the "List all other secondary schools, including summer schools as well as summer and other programs, you have attended, beginning with 9th grade" section? I took long-distance courses that lasted about 6 months, and I wasn't taught by anyone else - I just had to send in some dissertations at the end so my courses could be graded.

Thanks ^^.

I think they want all. All colleges and unis which would include your Open U., even if you think they won’t transfer as credit, you took them for credit.

Same with your long-distance courses for secondary school. List everything. It will show you took control of your education, and sought outside opportunities.

Oh… I meant that the Open University courses were long-distance. Sorry, I typed it unclearly.

Also, they ask that the OU send my grades/transcript - but I took the courses a while back and I’m not sure if they still have my record. Can I just send copies of the official certificates of my grades I was sent?

^
Colleges will not want the official certificates from you. Ask OU to send the grades, and if they don’t have them, that’s that.
