^^HAHA, that’s great. They really made you say “adsum” for attendance. Haha. Here is the full thing:

Pater noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

We did Ovid too! I don’t remember it as much, I did it the year before last and Catullus just makes more of an impact than Ovid, heh.

Haha carmen 2 was totally innuendo-y. Okay, well more 3 but still… Her little sparrow, hopping here and there in her lap… I guess I’ve just got a dirty mind.

Marrucine Assini, manu sinistra non belle uteris! (I laugh at that line every time…)

We’ve totally hijacked this thread. xD

Church Latin scares me to a certain extent. Must be the ‘church’ part.

Quick question: My school used to offer Latin but got rid of it since no one wanted to take it.
How hard would it be to self-study for the AP Latin: Virgil test? I have no prior knowledge of Latin other than a few phrases.

well i spelled most of it right, kinda! and lol i thought all latin students said “adsum”, even in my french class we say “present” well you know with the accent and everything.

Self studying what typical Latin students do year 4/5 with no prior experience would be murder. If you have an abundance of French/Spanish/Romance language experience, you might be able to pull something off, but then you’d have to go through adjusting to differences as well as learning Latin. I wouldn’t advise it, not without at least a mentor.

Akrana, like freznow said, I would NOT recommend self-studying Latin. Especially if you only know a few phrases. These are mostly 4th year Latin students taking the class. It would be miserable.

Freznow, my whole class loved that phrase, and I don’t even know why. I agree with you that Catullus is a little more… memorable. Haha. Oh, the sparrow… my teacher took a Catullus class over the summer and I guess he professor made it even dirtier than she had thought it was.

Smilemyonly, haha, good old churn Latin and Catholic schools.
