List of Colleges ‘Opting Out’ of SAT Score Choice

All SATs are on your high school transcripts which the colleges get.

^ This is not true for all high schools. It is up to each high school/district to decide.

Presumably the question of which or how many high schools put scores on the transcripts should soon be moot: the score choice option and full scores on transcripts are clearly incompatible. It should only take a few angry parents or students per high school to get the transcript scores to vanish. Then again, I sometimes inhabit a dream world. :)

I thought USC allows you to use score choice but they just don’t recommend it. Is there an official list anywhere?

nvm found it. USC does allow the use of Score Choice. Check the link. Higher Education Professionals | College Board;

hey I got a lower score on my Sat the second time, first I got 2090 then a 1990 but my superscore is 2140 so should I report my first score or both scores applying to NYU, Northwestern, Princeton

When Cornell says you must submit all your SAT scores- do they mean all SATs including SAT IIs? thanks!

^Yes. Every SAT or SAT Subject test you took.

Stanford doesn’t require subject tests. Thus, I assume we are allowed to send subject tests selectively?

thanks fignewton. but I heard that you have to send all your SAT I’s, but as long as you meet the required 2 SAT II’s , you don’t have to send others?

If the college ‘opts out’ of Score Choice, you must send ALL of your subject test scores as well. If they allow score choice, you can of course pick and choose which to send.

^But Stanford doesn’t require subject tests at all. Thus, I would believe that their score choice policy only applies to the SAT I.

^^I’m pretty sure you still have to send them IF you take them. Its optional to take them, but if you decide to, you have to send. I’m 99% sure, but not 100%.

So for college that do not have score choice, you have to send all your SAT’s and SAT 2s? However there is no similiar policy regarding ACT tests?

It’s okay- I found a few other quite convincing posts that state that for Cornell, you don’t have to send in all SAT II’s as long as the requirement is met.

I am just trying to learn about score choice and I’m confused. This is what the College Board web site says about sending scores:

"All available scores will be sent, including those from previous test administrations. We send a cumulative report of all scores that are available and reportable at the time your request is received. You cannot send only your latest or highest SAT scores, or separate scores for critical reading, mathematics, or writing sections, or only SAT, or only Subject Test scores.

Only score reports from completed and scored tests will be sent to the colleges and scholarship programs you select. Scores from future tests for which you registered, but have not yet completed, will not be included. Check your My SAT page to see which scores are available to send."

WHERE IS THE CHOICE? If I wanted to send my best scores, I don’t even see how I would do it. Does anyone know?

Thanks!
Kris

If you go to the College Board web site and search “score choice” a slew of information comes up, including which schools require what, and how to choose which dates to send. Google is your friend!

Stanford allows score choice for subject tests. From their website:

Applicants may also selectively submit whatever SAT Subject Test scores they choose, as those scores are not required for admission.

[Testing Requirements : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Standardized Testing : Stanford University)

I would imagine that a similar policy applies to other non-score choice schools that don’t require subject tests.

I would like to point out one very important factor. After recently communicating with Stanford, Columbia, and Yale, they told me that if I decide to send my ACT scores, I do have the ability then to score choice out ALL my SAT 1 scores. However, if i decide to send even 1 SAT 1 score, I must send them ALL. SAT 2 here do not account, with the exception to Yale I believe which is a little hazy about it, as I have created a thread about it. Apparently Yale states that I am able to just send my ACT + writing score and not have to worry about SAT (SAT 1 or SAT 2) at all, though I need confirmation on this.
