I am utterly confused by the number of replies I come across that says X school extended their regular deadline.

Could we make a list of schools that extended deadlines for the procrastinators? :P

So far I have heard UVA and Cornell both extended to 1/7.
But I went to UVA's website and didn't see any about an extension, what's the real deal?

I just got an email from Vassar telling me it extended its deadline to Jan. 15 because I attended a chat in December. As a way to thank me and hope the chat answered questions and enhanced my view of the school.

However, I went to their admissions website and saw no news about the deadline extension.

I have also heard Swarthmore extended its deadline, but emailed ppl who had been on their mailing or something or other. But its website says nothin' about it, too.

So I would think the extensions are mostly given out to those who had shown interest in a school before, told to them through email or a postcard or something.

shrugs But I wouldn't know fer sure.

For the people who have found out about these extended deadlines. How did you guys find out? Did the school directly contact you? Or did you hear by word of mouth?

Nice, if I would have known Duke and Northwestern were extended, I would have spent a bit more time on my essays for there. I was pretty happy with them though, so oh well.

^ does anyone know if you can submit an "updated" essay, if the deadline date has been extended?
I was mad rushing for the UVA app. and one (of the 3) essays I feel I did poorly on. (Perhaps because I was cranking it out at 11 something..? :P)

Do colleges, or does UVA (Univ. of VA) allow updates if they are before the deadline..?
