List of employers who have tuition-reimbursement benefits?

S works part-time at UPS and they have a spectacular tuition benefit—they reimburse workers, even part-timers, up to $20,000 in total (IIRC) for tuition paid for classes taken and passed at just about any accredited school.

Are there other companies that provide that kind of benefit for part-time employees? It's the kind of thing that could make a real difference for students who are trying to pay their own way. I think D's high school, for example, should have that information available to kids who may not be going straight to a four-year university or who are thinking about commuting-from-home part-time options.

I don’t know if such a list exists, and I doubt more than a handful of other companies treat part-timers that well (many offer them no benefits at all), but given how hard it is to get a decent job these days, I don’t think it’s very practical to try to target employers on that basis. It could certainly be a factor in a decision to take or turn down an offer, at which point the tuition reimbursement policy would be known.

A lot of colleges allow workers to take a class or two every semester.

Tuition reimbursement for part-timers? That’s got to be rare. However, a lot of companies offer tuition reimbursement programs for full-time employees. Usually, the coursework must lead to a degree that’s useful for the company like business, engineering or scientific fields. Depending on how a company defines full-time – 40 hours? 30 hours? 32 hours? – it could be doable, especially if the job duties aren’t overwhelming. Agree that universities and colleges would be a great place to target for this benefit.
