Listing 2nd major, does it lessen chance of getting in for 1st major?

Hi,

My son is getting ready to apply to schools, interests in engineering…all schools he is interested in ask that he put down a second major he might be I terestd in…Son really interested in engineering so that is his first major choice… If he puts a second one down, does it lessen his chance to be admitted for his first choice (engineering?). I think some,schools require a second major, others have it as an option?

That’s usually used if he didn’t make the cut for the first major.
