Fafsa has the option of not listing your assets. I completed the application already and skipped the assets question because my family doesn’t have any. We don’t own a house or anything like that, we rent. Also the money in our bank account is pretty insignificant. This won’t hurt me right? I mean fafsa did give the option.
You need to put the money in the bank account down unless your income is so low that your assets don’t count at all. What was your EFC?
I think that the “option” that OP is referring to is the simplified needs test. OP, if that’s the case, not listing assets will not hurt you. To be clear, this is not an “option” that everyone has.
Check YOUR state. Some states require assets be listed even WITH the simplified needs test.
On FAFSA? Is that for in-state schools?
If the state requires the listing of assets, the FAFSA form will still ask the questions (skip logic will skip what is not required and still ask what is required).
The OP is fine with answering what appeared on her FAFSA form.
