Listing the exact years for extracurriculars?

<p>Listing the exact years for extracurriculars? </p>

<p>My friend and I are starting some new clubs at my school, but some of them won't be able to roll out until next year due to fundraising and money contraints. We also wanted to organize the Science Olympiad and Academic Decathlon, but due to the same factors we will only be able to alternate them: Sci Olympiad this year, and Academic Decathlon the next year.</p>

<p>With that being said, do I HAVE to list out the years that I was involved in these activities?</p>

<p>As in, can I merely put the activity plus any position:</p>

<p>Science Olympiad (Captain)
Academic Decathlon (Captain)
National Honor Society (President, Cofounder)
Math Club (President, Cofounder)</p>

<p>instead of also listing out the years?:</p>

<p>Science Olympiad (Captain, 10)
Academic Decathlon (Captain, 11)
National Honor Society (President, Cofounder, 10, 11, 12)
Math Club (President, Cofounder, 10, 11, 12)</p>

<p>If I DO have to, would that look bad? My school isn't rich.</p>

<p>I’m not entirely sure, but I would think adcoms would want to know how long you were involved in a particular activity to weed out the kids who are superficially involved in many ECs for a brief period of time.</p>

<p>take a look at the common app and you should know, i did a while ago and it does have a thing where you indicate what years you did it. I’m not sure though</p>
