yeaaa seriously how does everyone know already? I have no clue what I want to do with my life :/

um most are 18, 30-18 is 12 u got 12 years until u need to have a solid career to be secure in ur life. so being 18 and not having direction (maybe not set plans but some kinda plan)seems idioic(the idea of not having a plan not people) to me. but thats just me. others may feel it visa versa.

i think its a bit early for this one....

hence the title of the thread

After I undergrad. I want to join the Peace Core, then go to grad school, and get married... ;-)

Lol, I don't really know yet, but I'm looking into the MSTP (Medical Scientist Training Program) that gives extensive medical research opportunities and also the MD/phD. It's really hard to get into though...

how is it idiotic? A lot of people end up being in their 40's wondering why they chose to do what they do and hate their job. Determining what you want to do with the rest of your life is a really big deal and if you need time to explore whats wrong with that.

its idiotic to end up in ur 40s hating ur job bc u didn't get focused earlier in life thats all i meant.

we all prob care about our futures. I want to be successful and have a good job but I just have no idea what that job is going to be.

yeah i better just calm down lol. i just wanted to know if others thought the way i did since we are all highly motivated and want or have gotten into Cornell.

Emilyanne, just a pet peeve of mine. It's Peace Corps, not core. It just sounds like core.

It looks like Peace Corps for you, Marine Corps for me... lol

abike, you got i point
im pretty set on med school, all my ECs and course selections are geared toward it. and i love it. i cant imagine doing anything else. though i hate waiting so much! i wish it would all start so i can prove to those who say my plans will change that they wont. i know exactly how you feel

Ooops!! Sorry! I am soo crazy about decisions, I can't think straight!! But I am generally a poor speller anyways...

hey emily! I plan on joining the peace corps as well for 2 years...they give a scholarship for grad school if you volunteer for 2 years, which is always a nice perk. After that, I hope to obtain my pHD at the Yale School of Forestry.
abike and rubber ducky, everyone thinks I'm crazy for having such a focused idea of what I want to do in the future...but I also could not imagine doing anything else. It's a calling what can I say? lol

I agree with you guys. I really dig the Peace Corps' offerings and the opportunity the program presents. If my situation after undergrad were conducive to something like that, I'd definitely go for it. I've been looking into it since I went to Thailand with the Experiment in International Living last summer. EIL is part of World Learning, which operates very similarly to the Peace Corps.

i did some research since some of u want to join the peace corps. so what countries do u guys want to do ur peace corp work?

possibly mongolia or china

You're not allowed to choose.

u choose ur field and the geograpic area, not the country
