Living off-campus and still being part of the community?

I will be living off-campus next year, in a house that is around 1/4 mile (3 or 4 blocks) from the edge of campus. I now realize that I shouldn't have signed the contract to live there, because I feel it is a bit far and I grew to dislike some of the people I'm living with (over the course of the year after I had signed the lease). I plan on becoming active in some clubs next year and make new friends, because I never really was active during my first two years of college and I really cannot stand the "friends" I have right now that I'm living with.

Do you living off-campus will make me feel like I'm not part of the community and do you think it will hamper my ability my ability to make new meaningful friendships?

You’ve signed the lease so you have to learn to make the best of your situation. Meet people in your class. Go to the gym and meet people. Find ways to meet people—part time job, fitness center, library, class, study groups, clubs, intramural sports, etc. Many upperclassmen live off campus.
