Hello I am currently struggling to find a place to live in SLO, I was wondering whats the best option for me at this point from those that have lived there and know what is up? First off I am a transfer student which will be soon 23 so I have no desire to live in freshman housing or dorms. So the places I have found online are Valencia, which I read some things on still dont know the status on that place… and calwest. Anyways if anyone can help give advice that would be amazing. Thanks!
My son lived in Valencia his second year. They were nicer than I expected. Your experience will largely hinge on who you get placed with.
Hey, I’m also an incoming transfer student that was pretty much in your situation. The best way to find a place off-campus is through Craigslist and the Facebook group for Cal Poly Housing. I’m about to secure some housing for Fall, but my best advice is to keep looking at those sites and be persistent. How hard it is to find a place depends on your budget and if you want a private bed or are willing to share a room. You may even find a roommate on Facebook and apply for a 1 bed 1 bath where one person takes the bed and the other converts the living into a sleeping area. Good luck!
Check with cal poly first to see if there is room in PCV. It’s filled with 2nd years and up, even seniors can stay there, so you will not be out of place. Add yourself to the FB housing page and check each day as postings come on there all the time!
