LMU Regular Decision Class of 2023

@123california my D applied early and was deferred originally. No scholarships that we are aware of.

My d was waitlisted. She applied to Film Production. One confusing thing is the message doesn’t state her major anywhere - Does LMU only consider students for the first choice major they applied to (unlike some other schools that will consider a second choice major or undeclared if you don’t get into the first one)?

I got waitlisted today too :frowning:

My son didnt get in, they said he didnt meet academic requirements. He has a 4.03 gpa, 4 AP classes, leadership, a ton of community service, great recommendations and an awesome film portfolio. Hmmm. Wondering if we should contact them to verify the info they received. I feel so bad for him.

Got into the Nexus program after being deffered. Does anyone know if it’s worth taking the risk? Because my parents told me to forget about it, since I’m going in as a non-degree student. I intend to major in marketing or management. Does anyone know if it is possible to enter directly into the major once requirements for Nexus students are completed? Congrats to all of those accepted and good luck for those who are still waiting or who have been waitlisted.

They only consider you first choice major.

He defiantly should have met the academic requirements with those scores. I got waitlisted and had an unwaited 3.3 gpa with 5 AP’s, although I did have extenuating circumstances.

@Jsun21 If you click on the letter there is a counselor you can contact to ask about your major, or other questions. It doesn’t feel like a big risk - basically have to get a 2.5 gpa, but if you have direct admit to schools you really like, then that may make more sense. The tough part for us is it sounds like even after moving into the regular degree program, there is still no chance for merit and LMU is a bit out of our reach, financially.

@alohalivin Yea I have emailed the contact listed on the letter. I am still waiting for their response. But the cost is indeed a major issue, since financial aid isn’t offered to Nexus students.

For those who are curious how I ended up in the Nexus program (non degree student) here are my stats:
-Sat: 1240
-UW gpa: 3.5
-W gpa: 3.6
-1 AP class and 1 Honors class
-Leadership experience for 1 year each in student government and link crew(orientation leaders)
-originally applied as marketing major

Hello! I was admitted on 2/25. My last name is late in the alphabet. I was admitted for animation in the school of film & television. Has anyone else gotten into SFTV or animation? Thanks!

@Jsun21 my stats are pretty similar to yours and I also got in via nexus. I also intent to pursue marketing. let me know what the counseler says because I have the same question about directly entering a major after first semester.

What is Nexus?

@kitty72, From my Ds letter - she is actually kind of grateful for the extra help with transition and she is undeclared anyway, so the major part, is not really a concern for her. No financial aid or merit, is kind of an issue for me though, so we are still deciding. She has a 3.35 gpa and 1370 SAT (had medical issues one year which impacted cumulative gpa) but ultimately gpa was under the LMU target.
“Nexus is a transitional program for students who demonstrate significant academic potential. Nexus students begin their LMU career as full-time, non-degree students and must fulfill certain requirements in order to be eligible to become degree seeking at the end of the first semester. Students are required to:
• Take a time management class
• Meet with a Student Success advisor
• Maintain good standing with the University
• Achieve a 2.5 GPA in the first semester”

@thetru77, the film school is one of the hardest to get into…I don’t know that you can compare, stats wise, with the other majors. Sorry though. Hope he has some other options.

@nbrewer
“You will be considered non-degree in the College of Business for the first semester.
You will be advised as a marketing major and taking classes like all students directly admitted in marketing. If you achieve a 2.5 GPA after the first semester, you will no longer be a non-degree student.

The confusing part is the non-degree. You have been conditionally addmitted to the College of Business.”

Hello! Happy to say that I got accepted into the School of Film and Television’s animation program too! Hopefully there is a high chance I will be seeing you next semester. Goodluck to everyone!

Same here!

Does anyone know how to be accepted into the facebook group? I have requested to join and I have not been accepted into the group yet :frowning:
