LMU vs UCR

I got into UCR and LMU and I’m having trouble deciding between the two of them.

I’m a history major for both. I’ve lived in SoCal all my life, but spent most of my time in SGV.

Worries for UCR: it’s bad reputation (which I don’t really buy into) and it’s a pretty “dead” area. I can deal with heat.

Worries for LMU: price (is it worth it or not), fitting in (liberal, Indian, I feel like I won’t fit the norm there).

90% sure I’ll dorm and I won’t have a car.

I just want to know if it’s worth going to for my major and if it’s good if I might double in business…

I’ll be visiting both schools during my spring break~

Please help me?

Recommendations often betray the authors bias rather than some objective analysis. I’ve lived in SGV for many years. If you are okay with the rather silly gig UCR gets vis-a-vis other UCs, then you are far ahead of and infinitely more enlightened than many. LMU has a beautiful, ocean breeze campus. I understand the facilities are terrific. UCR is at the other end of the thermometer, but’s its campus is lovely. If you want ocean breezes, country club facilities, and you have the ability to handle private school tuition, then it’s an okay option. A degree from the University of California is awesome and the cost is 1/2 private. Insofar as you’ve grown up in SGV and can take the heat in Riverside, for my money UCR is the better choice and the education will be very, very good.
