Firstly, I’d like to say that this is my first time posting on CC. I made an account, which I hadn’t planned on doing just so I could try to help you out. Look, just stop listening to people who say that your only option is community college. It’s not. You have to take everything with a grain of salt, even this post, because what do I really know, or for that matter, anyone posting on this thread, really know about the inner workings of the college admissions process. All I know is that you need to stop worrying so much, it wont do you any good in the long run, and by this I mean that the only thing it will do is hurt your senior grades. If you keep worrying you’ll fail senior year, this is, of course, an exaggeration - don’t take it the wrong way. You need to get some self-confidence, you’re a great kid, from what I can tell, and I cant say that about everyone I know.
On a different note, I’ve been to more of those college information sessions than you care to know, and the one thing that they all say, from state schools to Georgetown and Harvard, is that you don’t have to be perfect to excel at their school. And they just want to find people that will do well, and enjoy their experience there. Have you ever been on a campus tour and noted the people with you? They’re just ordinary 17 yr. olds…they’re not any different than you or me. They’ve had their share of B’s and C’s, but they’re not worried about it because they have self-confidence. How many people, out of the thousands that apply to UWash every year, have the EC’s that you have? How many people that apply to UWash have the same test scores, or recs that you have? Really, the transcript is just one piece of the application, there’s a lot more to the puzzle that the colleges consider, and you’re a very strong applicant. And when people tell people that they’re EC’s are weak, or that they have no chance to get in to someplace, you’ve got to just laugh at them, because how many people have cured cancer, and can put that as their EC…uh no one yet! So you just really need to relax a little, I’m not saying, however that you can go and blow your senior year, because I do think you need to take it seriously, but what you’ve done is done, all you can do now is make your senior year the best it can be! So when people say you have no chance, or whatever, just dont listen to them, leave it to the colleges to decide if you have a chance, they’ll tell you if they want you or not, some guy posting on this thread is not going to alter your admission to UWash at all.
There is a lot of information here, it’s kind of scattered, I’m sorry for not making it as cohesive as it should be, I wrote it rather fast. Try to piece it together, and have a great senior year!
