loans, loans, loans!

the best scholarship and aid i've gotten so far is paying 20,000 a year
still a lot, considering thats the average amount of debt (apparently)
anyway, i got into my dream school yesterday, and i haven't recieved financial aid info, but my guess is that it will be around $25,000
so my question is, will i die having $100,000 debt upon graduation?
and if anybody has any delightful alternatives, i would love to hear them
i'm going to be poor until i'm 50, thats a fact

[ul][]Once you get your FA package, contact the school and ask if there are any options to reduce your loan component…maybe with more work-study.
[]Contact the School’s career center and inquire about the sucess of students getting paid internships over breaks and summer. This could help with some of the yearly costs.
[*]Worst-case scenario…look into 2 years of community college with a transfer. Ask the college(s) that accepted you which community colleges they would accept transfer credits from.[/ul]

what are your parents contributing?

Although I don’t speak for the OP, some of our parents don’t or can’t contribute anything.

Is it even possible these days for a student to get $25,000 in loans every year?

It’s not possible for you to get student loans that high without a cosigner. It’s a very bad idea because you monthly payments would be over $1,000 for 10 years.

Your most delightful alternative is to go to a school that you and your family can afford, work hard, and graduate with as little debt as possible - this doesn’t have to be the cheapest school you got into, but one that balances your financial and academic needs. In the long run you’ll be glad you did, especially if you want the freedom to have a good life later on and to choose to go into a field you love vs. taking a job solely based on the salary. The school is not what’s going to make or break you, your choices will.
