Any more guard rails people can recommend?

My friends who slept on the top bunk or ontop of a lofted bed didn't use guard rails. My bed was almost 5 feet off of the ground so the fall wouldn't have been fun, but I managed without guard rails.

What tools should I bring to loft my bed?

I was on the top bunk last year as a freshman. We were give a saftey bar, but the safety bar was much more dangerous than the lofted bed.
I tapped it one night and it swung down. She dove out of the way and it slammed against the wooden frame of the beds leaving a gash where her head had been. After that we put the bar in the closet.
I never once fell out of bed. I remember one night suddenly dreaming I was being pushed from a window. My eyes snapped open and I was an inch from rolling off the bed. So your subconscious can save you, even if you were as drunk as i was that night.
This year, I have a single, but I lofted my bed and have a futon underneath it. I’ve slept on my futon more nights than not because I remember how hot the top bunk got last year during the summer.
