LMAOOOO
No we don't get any poems, we're just reading Hamlet right now......

It's not that bad..

Has a good number of issues. Lack of parenting. Psychological issues of test tube babies. Mothers now working rather than staying home and spending time with their children... etc etc All brought on by the increase of technology and individualism.

I wish we got modern poems like this :(

We're doing Blake and Donne right now.. bleh

This poem was written by radical liberal propagandists who have managed to turn science into a religion in order to give sick false hopes to dying people, but the real effects of this poem will transform our country's people into human-harvesting self-indulgents easily controlled by an authoritarian government.

Not really... this poem was written by a third-grader.

aww i liked Donne :D

i actually have a hard time appreciating this type of modern poetry. i mean i see that it is a comment on society and everything, but i don't like to consider it poetry... it just doesn't "speak to me" i guess

Yeah Donne's not bad.. but I'm just not a poetry-luvin' guy I guess :P

understandable! i don't think anyone in my class liked him.

lol my english teacher gives us 20 carpe diem poems basically telling us to sieze the day sexually... some were so symbolic, one was about fish and bait and that was an extended metaphor for egg and sperm cells, he was so funny, he wiggled his finger and went "the fishes!" i guess you had to be there but consider the fact that he is like 70 and doing this

my lit ap teacher gives us a bunch of flowery ******** shakespeare poems...i swear...im going to print shakespeare's summer sonnet on rolls of toilet paper, and they'll sell like hotcakes

yeah wierd poems but not quite as weird as that, we just wrote an essay on "the evening hawk" from last years ap exam-its really deep

donne is alright, "valediction" was clever, but i dislike the holy sonnets
sylvia plath is better

hm...we covered Carpe Diem/romantic poets last year...(in honors language arts) for some reason....

this year I'm in AP lit, and we are basically doing AP books...

Donne is brilliant. So clever.

ya...we just finished "Sex Without Love" and this untitled one:
"You fit into me
like a hook into an eye

a fish hook
a human eye"

shel silverstein!
