lol what does this say about my school?

Okay we were in advisory class when we talk about college and college prep stuff and my advisory teacher said this:

"Our top kids go into University of Oklahoma. These kids were like the top of their class and worked really hard!" He was referring to the like 7 kids that go there (our school is really new).

So yeah I kinda find it weird that I want to go to a top college and my school considers a top college as a state college that has auto accept rules.

What do you think about it?

you should probably transfer. The school is no good

You can’t say a school is no good just because the top students don’t desire to go to Ivy Leagues. That’s a horrible indicator.

Your school obviously does not have many people if any at all desiring to go to top of the line universities.

I’m sure if you indicated your plans to them, they would at least try to understand.

Actually, the University of Oklahoma has one of the highest amounts of national merit finalists in the nation because of their scholarship program. Is it so awful that your top students want to go to a place where they can go for free. A person doesn’t have to want to go to the ivy league to be successful in life.

I never said they have to go to an Ivy school…just a higher ranked school. And our school has only had like 3national merit scholars

Also can’t transfer this is the best school in my region :)

What’s so special about a higher ranked school?

The same applies. Don’t go for the stereotype that top students go for the top 20 schools on that USNWR list.

That’s bs.

The main thing that I was trying to point out is that people at my school think OU is a top school

It may be in their opinion.

The term top school is subjective.

If you want to get a job quickly in your state, the best thing to do is go to the state school.

did the students just not apply to top 20s?
anyway, you dont have to transfer…people in my school barely even attend college…just make sure your record is great…high gpa, high sats, and a good set of ECs.
i know in some small towns a lot of people prefer to stay local.

^That just never pops up in our school this year someone did something “insane” and applied to MIT. And the were shocked “at all the stuff you have to do just to apply”
