Any Lombardi nominees who got into UF? When do we find out next about semifinalist status?
The website says the telephone interviews will take place the week of February 27th. They may contact you before that date to schedule the interview.
The e-mail you should have received, confirming that they received your application, says the finalist will be notified on March 8th.
Good Luck!!
Yea I got that email too, good luck
Who else got semifinalist?
I did as well!
Congrats and Good Luck! :-bd
so finalists come out tomorrow, anyone know what time to expect?
Any Lombardi news?? My D is a Lombardi and loves it. It is an amazing scholarship.
UF’s honors program twitter account sent out a picture of the finalist on 3/27. Great looking bunch of future Gators.
I betting the reason they are waiting till May 1st to make the “public” announcement, is they want the students to commit to UF first (by enrolling). Hate to announce X got the scholarship, only to have them turn it down and so they could attend Yale or UC-Berkeley.
I’m wondering if any of you semi-finalists or finalists that didn’t receive the award were awarded any other merit scholarships once you found out you were cut?
Thanks.
I was a semi-finalist that did not make the cut. I did not receive any other merit scholarship from UF.
Don’t think those who got cut get merit scholarships. You just have to go on assumption the only merit aid you will get is BF. Don’t count on UF. Besides all the in-house merit aid for class of 2021 has been given out.
OK yeah Merit is rare in UF, I know…
But it’s confusing to me that there is a Presidential scholarship of 10k/year which is more than the amount a lombardi scholar would get.
I’m guessing those presidential scholars are quite rare, as my cousin with basically perfect stats only got 2500/year (he got into stanford though).
I’m just wondering if you would be Disqualified from being considered for merit aid if you are in the running for lombardi. (And is it worth the risk, that is asking to be nominated/being nominated for lombardi?)
Keep in mind that Lombardi is so much more than money. The Lombardi/Stamps scholars have 4 generously funded summer trips, a class that encourages/enables them to find research opportunities as freshman, early registration, and the chance to belong to a cohort that is incredibly supportive. Not just for their class but every class before and after them. There is a total rock star UF employee who works with the Lombardis to ensure that they are having a one of a kind experience. The auxiliary parts of the Lombardi award far outweigh the cash award. But that is nice too.
You are absolutely right, actually.
