Lonely, confused at the same time about IMO, IPHO.

I'm threatend by these thing..... In a fb group, I saw that IMO, IPHO winners and their peers are claiming a "fact" about college application . They are saying that colleges are going to reject me because I don't have "awards".

And even I score 2300+ on SAT and perfect SAT 2, universities are going to reject me because I'm International without awards?

They are going to take that person who have awards and my academics, ECs, essay are going to fall short.
 Is this really happen in this way? I have no clue about it. What is this really? universities are going to reject me just for not having awards?

NB: most of those who claimed this "fact" has a SAT score of 2050~2130 and few other things that is weaker than my things.

Well, lack of awards may hurt, but I doubt it will negate your chances completely!
What is the rest of your application like? If GPA, EC’s, etc are strong, then it may not make much of a difference.
If you don’t want to leave the “awards” section blank, you can always list something like “honor roll” if your school has something like that and you’ve been on it.
Don’t worry about it, your SAT scores are great! :D

lol
each country only has 6 people who can even GO to IMO (math olympiad)
most of the so-called IMO winners on CC are trolls

GPA is perfect. EC is modes with few leaderships. I won 2 back to back interschool science fair and do have regional recognition. And SAT? Well practice score is 2300+ so don’t know what to do. There is just one weak point in my app the “awards” thing :D

Your stats are good. But international competition is very tough. There’s likely a University for you, but be flexible don’t get hung up on the Ivy’s. GL

i thought that was only for MS …HYP and Columbia dont work that way…at least here in India.

Besides …don’t fret ‘I’ got into UC Berkeley with my lame stats…haha so You easily will get in :)

btw. drexter where are you from ??(you are my friend on CC:p)

International admissions are definitely extremely difficult at HYP, if that’s what you’re negating.

You can only do what you can do. Make it your best, and let the chips fall where they may.
