The Encounter Engineering in Europe programs provides students with opportunity study state-of-the-art technology in Germany. The College of Science offers intensive, one-week pre-college orientation for science and math majors.</p>

<p>The State University of New York at Potsdam offers undergraduates various opportunities for undergraduate research including the Kilmer Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship and the Presidential Scholars Program. The School of Arts and Sciences offers Three Year Bachelor’s Degree Options in over a dozen majors. Students can gain hands-on experience at the Weaver Anthropology Museum or the Art Museum. <p>One of these posts mentioned North Central College in Illinois. This college is located in Naperville, IL, adjacent to the downtown area. Naperville’s downtown is legendary in the Chicago suburbs with tons of shops, restaurants, bars, a riverwalk, covered bridges, parks, and a BEACH (yes beach), and is only 45 minutes from the Loop. It would be an amazing place to go to college - especially if you are from out of town.</p>

<p>Austin College in Texas offers students the chance to participate in 10-week summer research projects in the humanities or social sciences through the Lemual Scarbrough Summer Research Program. Economics majors can receive funding for summer research and have the opportunity to participate in the Economics Scholars Program sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Global Outreach Fellows receive support to interact with impoverished areas or work on development programs. Students in the Teacher Program receive a Master of Arts in Teaching in five years. Pre-med students can complete Career Study Off-Campus Programs through UTMB Galveston, the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, and the UT Health Science Center in Tyler. There is as an early decision/acceptance program with the Texas Tech School of Medicine. Students have the opportunity for language immersion in the Jordan Family Language House. The Posey Leadership Institute offers various opportunities for students to develop leadership skills.</p>

<p>George Mason University in Virginia offers integrative studies degrees that incorporated hands-on learning experiences and small classes in the New Century College. Students in the School for Conflict Analysis & Resolution can gain hands on experience in Service Learning Intensive programs that include Liberia and Columbia. The Undergraduate Research Scholars Program provides financial support and stipends for the summer and the school year. Science and math students can work on laboratories through the Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program. George Mason will be opening the only Serious Games Institute in the United States that will provide undergraduate student research opportunities and internships. <p>The California Maritime Academy is a public school located on a small, waterfront campus in Vallejo, Calif., 30 miles northeast of San Francisco. Students at Cal Maritime can earn degrees in international business and logistics, facilities engineering technology, global studies and maritime affairs, marine engineering technology, marine transportation, or mechanical engineering. Cal Maritime students, more than 80 percent of whom are male, are required to spend at least one summer on the university’s training ship, Golden Bear. On the ship, students cruise through the Pacific Ocean and practice the technological and leadership skills they learned in the classroom.</p>

<p>Cal Maritime has the highest job placement ratio of the 23 California State University systems and is the only degree-granting maritime university in the West. Outside the classroom and off the ship, students can get involved in any of the more than 20 clubs or participate in campus events including dances, concerts, and comedy nights. <p>2300 undergrads, School of Liberal Arts, School of Business (now called Professional Studies I believe) School of Engineering, School of Art & Design, a Co-Op Program, Honors Program, Division III Athletics, No Greek Life, housing for all 4 years, (cheap rent if your student wants to live off campus) small classes so you know your professors, merit aid, need based aid, shuttles to Rochester airport at peak vacation times, buses to NYC at peak vacation times, nice friendly people at the University and in the village of Alfred, NY. Alfred State College SUNY is located across the street from Alfred University.</p>

<p>I’ll comment on 2 of the schools you recently wrote about. Trinity in San Antonio: when my D, was there she did LAC, Monterrey (it is now suspended due to violence in Monterrey), MAS, in Spain, which included an internship in a law firm. UIUC just received a $100,000,000 donation from a 1919 graduate, all of the money to go to the Engineeing school.</p>

<p>Students at the University of Missouri-Columbia can apply for summer internships as part of the Alcohol Research Summer School sponsored by the Midwest Alcoholism Research Center. The Life Sciences Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program supports summer undergraduate research with a stipend. Mathematics in Life Sciences scholars participate in weekly seminars and pair with faculty to complete a mentored independent research project. Business students have the chance to visit different corporations, receive mentoring, and meet business leaders through the Cornell Leadership Program. Students can get experience working on research projects through the Transportation Infrastructure Center. The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources offers study abroad opportunities in Costa Rica, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Students gain hands-on experience at the Bradford Research & Extension Center. The Museum of Art and Archaeology offers students development opportunities through the Museum Advisory Council of Students.</p>

<p>The Center for Collaborations with Arts at Whittier College in California offers students opportunities for research and internships. The Mellon Fellowship enables juniors to pursue creative thinking and learning with connections with the arts. Science students can apply to the Fletcher Jones Fellowship that provides support for internships or assistantships in health related areas. The Center for Science, Health, and Policy supports undergraduate research and internships. The Whittier Scholars Program allows students to design their own education with faculty advisors. The Faculty Masters Program provides faculty-in-residences at residence houses. Students can apply to the Nixon Fellowship Program for support of projects to develop leadership skills and increase international understanding.</p>

<p>The University of South Carolina offers an International Business & Chinese Enterprise Program where students spend their sophomore and senior years at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Middle East & North Africa program offers a similar exchange with the University of Cairo. The Deans Undergraduate Research Program provides business students with the opportunity to conduct research abroad. The Office of Undergraduate Research offers a four-week seminar to help students develop relationships with faculty and creating a research plan. Communications students can gain hands-on experience at the student run public relations agency, The Carolina Agency. All students are eligible to apply for Student Fellowships with the Walker Institute for language study or overseas study and research. The International Institute for Food Service Research & Education provides students with research and field studies opportunities.</p>

<p>The University of Arizona offers students the chance to work on research projects with faculty in the Engineering Research Center for Environmentally Benign Semiconductor Manufacturing. Students interested in Biology Research can apply to the Undergraduate Biology Research Program and spend the summer employed in labs. The Summer Research Institute provides undergraduates with summer research opportunities as well as GRE preparation. Undergraduates interested in Pharmacy can apply for research fellowships in pharmacology and toxicology. Math majors can apply for the Undergraduate Research Assistantship Program and work with faculty on research projects. All students are able to use the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center to grow crops and sell produce. The Equine Center allows students to work with a herd of Quarter Horses. The School of International Languages, Literatures, & Cultures partners with other organizations for internships in Transcultural Education. Undergraduates can intern in the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology.</p>

<p>Rhodes College in Tennessee has partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to provide a summer plus fellowship where students work on independent research projects for up to two summers. The Rhodes Institute for Regional Studies fellowship program provides housing and stipends for summer research in Memphis. Students interested in Archaeology can apply to the Rhodes Archaeological Field School. At the Crossroads to Freedom students gain experience in the digital archiving of materials relating to the Civil Rights Era. The Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts provides scholarships to fellows who work in service of the arts. Students at the Mike Curb Institute for Music gain experience by participating in research, outreach, and recording activities. The Environmental Field Study in Namibia allows students to study the major environmental issues of Namibia. Students with a commitment to community service and financial need can apply to the Bonner Scholars Program.</p>

<p>The Nebraska Transportation Center at the University of Nebraska offers undergraduate student positions. The Morrill Scholars program allows students to participate and develop their own projects in service and civic activities. The Center for Entrepreneurship offers a mentoring program and assistance in accessing venture capital. Communication students gain hands on experience in the student ad agency or covering state government for the Nebraska News Service. Students in engineering or biotechnology programs can apply for fellowships at the Center for Biotechnology. The Center for Materials and Nanoscience sponsors research experience for undergraduates. Undergraduates can intern or work on research projects in the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities. All students can apply for research funds through the Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences Program.</p>
