Looking for full tuition+ for 34+ ACT

My son is looking for scholarship opportunities: 34 ACT, likely National Merit Commended, unweighted 3.95 GPA?, community service and international service, varsity athletics (captain). He has a list of achievements but is really an ordinary guy...not a typical CC academic and EC superstar. :) He'd prefer a private midwestern college (1,000-3,000 students) but is adventurous and open to anything, anywhere. Undecided major.

Any ideas? Thanks!

There is a thread with a sticky on the parent's board that will help you a lot. You probably should post this there, you'll get a great deal of expert advice.

D had similar stats. She got some good merit scholarships, but not quite full tuition - it all depends on the schools your S is interested in attending. D's friend with lesser stats got an amazing scholarship at MI State. Other friends got good deals at some midwestern privates, but no full tuition. In order to be competitive for full tuition, look for colleges where he is in the top of the applicant pool (search for "common data set" on the college's website, where you will find the breakdown of applicant scores/grades). The higher your S is in the applicant pool, the better chance. Also, it depends on area of interest ... D was top of the heap at one school where many CC kids seem to get full tuition scholarships ... but the top scholarships were awarded for math/science & she was interested in psych/sociology. Cast a wide net for best results.
