Hey all. I'm currently a senior applying to Neuroscience PhD programs. I'm looking for a list that has rankings, other than the top 10 that US news hasn't updated in 2 years...

I'm thinking that right now my list is: Harvard, Yale, MIT, Columbia, NYU, Brandeis, and maybe Princeton or Penn. I don't really want to live on the west coast, and Hopkins and WashU are a little too far.

I would really like some more input, for instance, I'm wondering if Stony Brook or Albert Einstein are good places to consider.

Thanks for any input!

What’s your subfield? What sorts of problems, with what sorts of techniques, do you see yourself researching and using in graduate school?

I’m not entirely certain yet. I like the molecular side, signaling pathways in development and stuff, but I’m also interested in electrophys/circuits. Ideally I think I’d like to find a lab that combines those techniques while working on an interesting cognitive function.

I work in an endocrinology/anatomy/behavior lab at my university and hate it. This past summer I worked in a lab that studies IEGs and other developmental proteins, and I enjoyed that.

You should check out Emory. My D is currently in a lab that does research along the lines you describe. Here is their website:
