Looking for right leaning universities in Northern CA

Does anyone know some of the best conservative or moderate right-leaning universities in Northern California?

My GPA is in the 3.8-4.0 range and I have a desirable track record in extracurricular participation. It would be better for my own psychology and performance to be uniform surroundings based on my politics. I also need to know some that have an applicant acceptance rate between 10 - 60 %, and not less.

Peace

Northern California tends to lean left, in general. Remember that you can join student groups of all kinds at any school.
You could check out St. Mary’s College in Moraga.

Santa Clara University comes to mind.

“uniform surroundings based on (conservative) politics” will be a pretty tall order to fill anywhere outside of a strict Bible school. Among regular schools some colleges are more conservative than others, but even fairly conservative schools will almost always have a liberal faction on campus. Uniformity of thought is going to be tough to find and is contrary to the goals and mission of most repectable colleges.

U San Francisco

Santa Clara

St. Mary’s of California

Shasta County, Tehama County, Placer County, El Dorado County, Sutter County, Lassen County are “red counties” that might have more moderate-leaning students.

If there are CSU’s in those counties, you might apply there. http://www.calstate.edu/datastore/campus_map.shtml

Looking at the above map, I would think that the students at Fresno, Stanislaus, and Bakersfield might be more moderate in politics.

If you go to Southern Cal, CSU Fullerton is moderate in politics.

I don’t think any college is going to be “uniform” in politics. I’m from Calif, but now live in the South, and even southern schools (which are more moderate) aren’t “uniform”…they have students who are very liberal, students who are moderate, and students who are conservative.

However, I can understand your concern about not wanting to be in a school where your opinions are “drowned out” or “shouted down” and you are “put down” for even being more moderate or conservative.

Is money a concern? How much will your parents pay each year?

What are your stats?

Does the school have to be in northern Cal??

USF and Santa Clara are not right leaning. But they are more apolitical. Its a question of degree and context…geographical context. In general, there are no right leaning schools in California…just moderate or centrist or apolitical schools. U San Diego seems to attract a lot of kids from conservative families too.

You have your work cut out for you in California. Good luck.

My recommendation is to leave California and attend a school which is more conservative like Gonzago or Creighton or Saint Louis University.

From your writing, you sound like a foreigner. You should know that what is considered moderate or even slightly liberal in the US might be considered conservative in many other countries, where there are real socialist and Communist parties. At any large university, there will be a significant conservative presence, even a place like Berkeley.

University of San Francisco is NOT right leaning.

I didn’t mean that the suggested schools were “right-leaning”. I meant to suggest that they will…

be more tolerant of conservative viewpoints.

be less left-leaning than some other NoCal schools.

Like I said earlier, there really aren’t any right-leaning schools unless you go to a bible college. Even publics in the South are often middle-ground.

I hear UC Berkeley is good for rightwingers.
