ABET accreditation is not important in CS. Here’s the quote from Stanford whose CS program is not accredited:
“While such accreditation is useful in certain disciplines such as civil engineering, it has no practical significance whatsoever in computer science.” (from http://cs.stanford.edu/degrees/ug/Considering.shtml).
CMU - also not accredited for CS.

Of course, they do have many programs that *are *ABET accredited such as EE.

thanks guys! I do plan on getting some extra help in math over the summer to prepare - its not so much the calculus that I have trouble with; its geometry.

ABET accreditation in CS is not generally important per se, except in niche areas like [url=www.uspto.gov/ip/boards/oed/GRB_March_2012.pdf]patent law/url.

However, more careful individual evaluation of a non-ABET-accredited CS degree program may need to be done, since there is not the “floor” of quality that ABET accreditation indicates. Some are very good, like Stanford, but some are very limited, like Amherst (the state school that is its neighbor is much better for CS).

ucbalumnus - Yes, not all CS programs are created equal! People should absolutely do their homework in assessing the strength of a school’s CS program. I agree about Amherst versus UMass Amherst too.

BU
Northeastern
UMass
UConn
WPI
URI
Wentworth Institute of Tech
UNH/UVM

Northeastern and BU would be matches given your stats, not safeties. They are certainly not financial safeties either.

Thanks everyone! you’ve been a big help

Most colleges have a deadline on the OOS scholarships. Michigan Tech doesn’t have a deadline on scholarships and your sat score will net you 12,500 off. The other thing is it’s free to apply so it won’t cost you anything and the application is pretty simply to fill out. it would give you another option.

Any other recommendations? Preferably ones that don’t place an emphasis on class rank or sat 2 scores?

Here is a good set for you in addition to WPI and RPI:

BC (Reach)
Northeastern (Reach)
BU (Target/Reach)
UMass Amherst (Target)
UNH (Target)
UConn (Target)
URI (Safety)
Clark (Super Safety)
Umass - Lowell/Dartmouth/etc. (Super Safety)

Clark and BC do not have engineering though, in case the OP wanted to keep his options open for CE versus CS.

@informative thanks for the list!
