Looking for the perfect University

Hi, I'm a student from Uruguay planning to go to University in Fall 2014.
I'm still looking for a university but I haven't decided yet. I would like some help in order to get another point of view about different universities. The university I'm looking for should be:

-National ranking #500 or better
-GOOD Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs
-Good installations (classrooms, gym, etc.)
-Small classes
-Public university
-U$S 30.000 or less (tuition + room & board)
-Location isn't that important
-Not religious
-60% or more acceptance rate
-NOT EXPENSIVE on-campus living
-Good parties and active social life
-Safe city
-Nice and comfortable rooms

My GPA is somewhere between 2.6 and 2.8 (I haven't converted it yet but I know it is in that range) and also I haven't taken the SAT, but I know it will be between 1700 and 2000. I've done tons of extracurricular activities, so that won't be a problem.

Thanks to all in advance.

University at Buffalo aka SUNY Buffalo
North Carolina State University

-U$S 30.000 or less (tuition + room & board)

Keep in mind that as an int’l student you will have to show that you have the full COA plus you’ll have to pay insurance. You can’t just show that you have the money for tuition and R&B.

You have to show funds for:

Tuition
Fees
health insurance
room
board
any req’d flex dollars
personal expenses
local and int’l travel

Is $30k your limit?

I’d tell you to look into Longwood University because the computer science is supposed to be killer and you’d be on target but they don’t have computer engineering.

Also, the cost is slightly above $30k when counting in all the fees…Though the school makes you pay per credit rather than the base rate so cost fluctuates based on your classes…

Look at some of the smaller [Association of Independent Technological Universities: AITU](http://theaitu.org) schools. Some of them, like my school (Illinois Institute of Technology) have favorable scholarships for international students since they are private universities. Public universities may not have as much financial aid for international students.

New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology

Yes, 30k is my limit. I really cannot afford more than that number per year

A 2.6 GPA is extremely low for most American schools, unless that’s your Uruguay GPA. I don’t pretend to know how to convert Uruguay GPAs into American ones, but if that converts to a >3.0 American GPA, you should look into U Wyoming which gives small merit awards for students with a [> 3.0 GPA](<a href=“404 - Page Not Found”>http://www.uwyo.edu/admissions/scholarships/international/rms-international.html)

It’s a relatively small public university, whose state legislature has recently poured money into the school, especially into the engineering and computer science department. If you can get the scholarship the total cost of attendance, even after factoring in transportation costs and insurance will be less than $30,000 a year. Additionally, because it’s the state flagship in a sparsely populated state, it’s a very good option for what we in America term B-Students, eg those who were, in high school, fairly decent students but not necessarily academic super stars.
