Looking Into College

Hi! I’m currently a sophomore in high school just considering my options for college. I know that I’m only a sophomore, however, I would love any opinions anyone has. Thank you
I’m interested in nursing or biology (considering a medical pathway for myself)
I’d love to look into colleges on the west coast or the northeast, but if there are any recommendations outside of that I would love to hear them!
GPA has been above a 3.0, however, unweighted GPA has been in the low 3.0 so far
I don’t have any financial info, however, I will be looking into schools with good merit aid
Any colleges you can recommend for me would be great!!

Recommendations on Looking at Colleges:

  1. Probably the most important is to find out how much you and your family can afford to pay each year towards your college education so can look at affordable options.

Determine your EFC (estimated family contribution) and you need know that this will be the minimum amount any student/family will be expect to pay.

If you are looking for merit, then you need get your GPA up and have high test scores. Until you have ACT/SAT scores it is very difficult to make recommendations.

What is your Home State? Start looking at schools within your home state.

Each college and university has a Net Price Calculator on its website. Some are more accurate than others, but it is worth running a couple with your parents to get a notion of what those colleges might cost your family. Have soft tissues and adult beverages handy as tears are often involved when the parents realize just how much costs have changed since they went to school.
