I have to echo the other posters that Furman is very rigorous! My daughter had a very high gpa, good scores and worked very hard in high school. She received a merit scholarship at Furman. DD says she has never worked so hard in her life. She is majoring in Psychology and Philosophy and loves the academic environment. Furman has given her some very nice opportunities from being an assistant RA, research and sitting in on interviewing professor lectures and reviewing their performance. Her only real complaint is that Furman is not that well known in Ohio!

I agree with Georgiatwins and BobbyCT that the professors are one of the best things about Furman. They really take an interest in the students and will go out of their way to help and mentor.

DD has known a number of students who did not put in the work and did not return. It still comes down to the student to work hard and take advantage of the opportunities in front of them. If your child is willing to do that I believe Furman a wonderful place to flourish.
