Thanks historymom! I went to a Baptist-affiliated school myself (Linfield) and it was not a problem for my non-religious self. I tried to explain that to my son, but it is good to have another confirmation.

mamakin Linfield is the school I was referring to! How funny. I LOVE that place. I really wanted D to pick it though we are Catholic but her heart bleongs to St. Mary’s College and I am happy with her choice.

CLU should try to improve its FA program by giving full rides to students with a 0 EFC. :D

Does anyone know what the star program really is? I’m really not a dumb student, but have a lower GPA than I should for certain reasons. I got conditionally accepted to CLU…and it says if I want to go I have to sign a contract with all these conditions attached to it. It sounds like I’m on academic probation, and this program could either make my freshman year easier for me since I tend to take on too much, or it could make me feel like I have a babysitter and make me discouraged with school. Help?

^^I don’t know about this program per se but think that if they are offering you a conditional acceptance and you really do like the school that you should go for it. The extra academic support can’t hurt you and will likely give you a leg up on other students who won’t have the opportunities this program will offer you.

I have a child who entered college unwilling to talk to professors, forgetful about checking emails and not really reliable about reading her syllabus carefully. She ended up on academic probation and the structure that has forced her into has made her a better student.

Look at this as the gift that it is. It will better help you bridge the gap between high school and college.
