<p>According to us news, Georgia Tech's 4-year graduation rate is only 31%. Anybody know an explanation behind that?</p>
<p>I guess it’s because GT is a hard school to graduate in 4 years.</p>
<p>It’s focus is engineering which requires more than 120 hours for a BS. MechE is 129 hours, Aerospace is 132 hours…etc. And, as stated previously - it’s a hard school.</p>
<p>Many students also choose to co-op, which tends to extend their time at Tech beyond four years. If you look at the 6-year graduation rate, you will notice it is much higher.</p>
<p>The main reason is all the internships and coop opportunities there, it gives students work experience, so it takes longer to graduate. It’s the same as just graduating in 4 years with no work experience, and then having to work for 2 years after, but coops and internships lead to jobs a lot of the time, so it’s better.</p>
