Low ACT- Chances Ruined?

I have a 24 ACT, and I've taken it 5 times. This is my highest score. I know it is bad, but I'm not a good test taker if I don't know what to study, especially knowing a multiple choice test will decide my future. My GPA (combined, UW) is 3.7, or possibly a 3.8 (freshman year was my bad year). I am in-state, in a few extracurricular (but not the leader of any because I was not elected), done 90 hours of commmunity service, I am an IB student, and I am applying for Fall 2015.

ACT 24 is rather low even for in state student, although it is not impossible for admission if you have a hook. For instance, if you have exceptional skill applying to music performance major, or for athletic recruitment. It would be a problem for admission if you have nothing really stand out in the rest of your application. You will have a higher chance if apply to other satellite campus and transfer to AA in sophomore.

Talk to your guidance counselor, he/she will have a better idea of how kids with your profile have done with Michigan admissions the past couple years. Some of how your application will be viewed will be in the context of your particular school.

Would have to agree with billcsho, you absolutely would need a hook (super URM, athletics, etc). Wouldn’t get your hopes up, but I agree that transferring in as a Sophomore is your best bet. There’s more than one way to get what you want, just not always the direct route.
