Low GPA and good work experience for masters

I have a low gpa 2.95, but graduated with my bachelors 3 years ago and have been working in my field since. But there is an industry downturn unfortunately and I could be out of a job before the end of the year.

If I get laid off I will try to get my masters. There are a lot more job options in my field with a masters degree, and something I thought of perusing when I was graduating. I am going to start studying for my gre now. The school I am applying to is not that prestigious. Anybody know how much my work experience will weigh, and how high of a gre score I might need?

It depends on your field. You did not give us that information. In general, the work experience would be a plus from two points of view. The first is accomplishment but the second is maturity. My experience is that students who come back after spending time working are highly motivated and know how to study more effectively than when they were first in college.
