I'm talking about 3.3 GPA (weighted) and 1520 SAT's, 34 ACT, 750'ish on my 3 SAT II tests, national merit semi-finalist from my PSAT's (I never applied for finalist because of my poor GPA credentials :P)

Anyways if my essay / interview are in my favor, do you think Reed will still snub me based on the GPA alone?

Also, now this is the ringer, this is sort of a unique case because I would have about a 3.9 had I not dropped out of school for half a year (basically my transcript will read as there being a semester junior year where all my classes were failed) other than that I did have GPA growth from freshmen to senior year, on the average, and I did take a very rigorous course load (AP's, honors, and the like). I did some damage control in my essay with this particular issue as well. I'm concerned it will look like more of a risk to take someone on who's willing to drop out on a whim, but it may also prove that my GPA is unrepresentative of what I actually did while 'at' school :P

Any thoughts on this admittedly idiosyncratic situation?

Your situation is not unique. Reed also tends to take a chance on some people with your profile. But it's concerned if high SAT/low GPA indicates a low taste for work or bad work habits. This is because Reed's own curriculum is rather unforgiving -- you have to work, even more perhaps than you have to be smart. So if your applicatioin persuades them that your bad grades are an aberration and are not predictive of how you would do in college, you should have a shot.

Of course applications involve more than just grades and test scores, so a lot more will come into play. Did you visit Reed, talk to any of their admissions folks? If so, that would help.

Well I did interview with a woman, her name escapes me right now, it went decently. We had a few things to talk about, I think it lasted about a half hour, but I was fairly nervous. Of course I'm pessimistic about my chances, so I tend not to trust my impressions here.

It should be mentioned she did suggest a movie to me and I sent her an e-mail with my thoughts on it after she sent me a letter asking if I'd seen it. She hasn't responded yet, I doubt this is very relevant but for what it's worth :p
